Five security personnel from various agencies at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport have been arrested and handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for prosecution over an alleged security breach on February 12, 2026, sources told The Nation on Tuesday.
The breach is reportedly linked to former Nasir el-Rufai.
The arrested officers include:
Ayuba Yakubu, Assistant Superintendent of Police
Murtala Inuwa, Department of State Services (DSS)
Najeeb Murtala, Assistant Superintendent, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)
Musa Adamu, Aviation Security (AVSEC)
Salihu Victor, Aviation Security (AVSEC)
Sources said the suspects were transferred to ICPC for prosecution under anti-corruption and security laws.
Mallam el-Rufai is reportedly under investigation following remarks he made on national television regarding the alleged wiretapping of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
The arrests followed a joint investigation by the DSS, NIS, Nigeria Customs Service, and the Federal Ministry of Aviation, which revealed the involvement of the five officers in compromising established airport security protocols.
“They have all confessed to receiving bribes to facilitate unauthorized entry into Restricted Areas and obstruct lawful security operations in an unprecedented manner,” a source said.
“Others from NIS and NCS whose involvement is not criminal, meaning they did not receive bribes but abused their uniforms to facilitate unauthorized access, will face administrative action,” the source added.
