Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed deep sorrow over the Afriland Towers fire disaster on Broad Street, Lagos Island, which claimed the lives of 10 people earlier this week.
In a condolence message on Thursday, Mrs. Tinubu sympathised with the families, friends, and colleagues of the victims and prayed for the recovery of those injured in the inferno.
She extended her condolences to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the people of Lagos State, and corporate organisations affected by the tragedy, including the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the United Bank for Africa (UBA).
“May God Almighty comfort the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the departed and the injured at this time of grief and pain. I pray for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed, healing for the injured, courage and strength for those left behind to bear this irreplaceable loss,” the First Lady said.
The Afriland Towers fire, which broke out on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, has so far claimed the lives of four staff of FIRS and six employees of United Capital Plc, raising widespread grief across the country.
