FG Vows to Settle Verified Contract Debts for Completed MDA Projects

This move is seen as part of broader efforts by the current administration to restore fiscal discipline and rebuild public trust in government contracting processes.

The Federal Government has announced that it is taking concrete steps to clear outstanding payments owed to genuine contractors who have completed projects for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

This assurance was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) through its spokesperson, Bawa Mokwa.

According to the statement, the government will only honor contracts that were duly awarded and properly executed in accordance with established guidelines.

“The Federal Government has laid down rules for the award and execution of contracts, and no payment would be made for contracts awarded without due process or those not executed according to specification,” the OAGF emphasized.

The office added that the government remains committed to ensuring value for money, which is why contract records are undergoing careful scrutiny before payments are made.

“Efforts are underway to pay for contracts duly awarded and completed according to specifications,” the statement noted, reiterating that meticulousness in the payment process helps protect public funds and promote accountability.
