The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of this year’s Eid-al-Adha festival.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued on behalf of the government on Monday. He extended warm congratulations to Muslims across Nigeria and in the Diaspora, urging them to reflect on the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him).
In his statement, the minister called on the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and prosperity of the nation. He emphasized that the period of Eid presents a valuable opportunity to renew communal bonds and uphold national values.
“The people-oriented reforms and initiatives of the current administration, under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, are designed to restore Nigeria to the path of progress,” the statement read.
Tunji-Ojo further appealed to citizens to support ongoing national efforts aimed at rebuilding the country and reclaiming its greatness on the global stage.
As Nigerians prepare to celebrate one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic calendar, the Federal Government calls for tolerance, collaboration, and patriotic commitment to the nation’s collective future.
