The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has congratulated former Bayelsa East Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, on his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Murray-Bruce announced his resignation from the PDP and his move to the ruling APC in a statement he personally signed and shared on his social media platforms on Wednesday.
In his statement, the former lawmaker and media executive praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a leader with a deep understanding of finance and a strong commitment to a free-market economy.
He expressed confidence in the President’s ongoing economic reforms, which he described as the foundation for Nigeria’s future prosperity. Murray-Bruce also lauded the administration’s security efforts, noting that under National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, the country’s security architecture has been strengthened and threats are being “quietly and systematically dismantled.”
Reacting to the development, Festus Keyamo took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to welcome the former senator to the ruling party.
“My dear elder brother @benmurraybruce, I want to specially welcome you to the progressive family. Your antecedents of forthrightness, outspokenness, and altruism make the APC a natural home for you,” Keyamo wrote.
He added that Murray-Bruce would be treated as a co-owner of the party in Bayelsa State, not a “back-bencher,” emphasizing the APC’s tradition of inclusivity and openness to new members.
“Take a bow for this courageous decision, my big brother!” Keyamo added.
Murray-Bruce, a businessman and founder of Silverbird Group, represented Bayelsa East Senatorial District between 2015 and 2019 under the PDP before formally joining the APC on Wednesday.
