A female Uber passenger has gone viral after showing remarkable kindness to her driver following a tense encounter with an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

The incident, which occurred inside an Uber vehicle, was captured in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, January 7, by user @dammiedammie35.

The video shows the moment a LASTMA officer confronted the Uber driver for allegedly taking a wrong turn. The official’s aggressive approach quickly escalated into a heated exchange, with the visibly distressed driver repeatedly asking, “What is wrong with this man?” and “What did I do?”

As tensions rose, the driver threatened to call for help, but the officer dismissed the move, telling him, “Call anybody you want to call.”

Amid the confrontation, the female passenger intervened, calmly trying to de-escalate the situation. She repeatedly reassured the driver, saying, “Don’t worry, you’ll be fine. There are times like this,” as he struggled to cope with the stress of the encounter.

At the end of the trip, the Uber driver apologised to the passenger, saying, “I’m really sorry, I’m so sorry,” expressing concern over the delay and the discomfort caused.

In a gesture that has since attracted widespread attention online, the passenger sent the driver ₦10,000 to help ease his stress. When he questioned the reason for the unexpected gift, asking “Why?”, she replied, “I just didn’t want you to feel your day was completely ruined.”

The driver, visibly touched, responded, “I only felt bad because I delayed you. I will be fine,” while expressing his gratitude for her empathy.

The video has since generated widespread reactions across social media platforms, with many Nigerians praising the woman’s compassion, generosity, and calm handling of a situation that could have easily escalated further.
