The father of Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly stabbing a man during a parking lot dispute in Las Vegas, authorities and U.S. media reported on Thursday.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Quenton Marselles Brown, 57, was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Clark County Detention Center. He made his first court appearance Thursday, where a judge set bail at $300,000.
A police report obtained by News 3 Las Vegas revealed that the altercation began when Brown allegedly dinged the door of a neighboring car while exiting his SUV. Witnesses claim the dispute escalated, culminating in Brown stabbing the victim multiple times, including wounds to the back, upper chest, and a defensive injury to the hand.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Brown allegedly fled the scene but was later apprehended by police.
Brown’s attorney, Arnold Weinstock, told News 3 that his client acted in self-defense and called the bail amount “excessive.”
Jaylen Brown, a four-time NBA All-Star, was named NBA Finals MVP in 2024 after leading the Celtics to their record 18th championship.
