The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has assured passengers of a seamless travel experience at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, despite ongoing rehabilitation works.
Kuku gave the assurance while inspecting the newly constructed temporary departure terminal ahead of the planned closure of Terminal One for rehabilitation.
She disclosed that the 8,000-square-metre temporary departure terminal is over 90 per cent completed and will soon commence operations.
According to her, the facility is designed to initially accommodate between five and six airlines and handle up to 1,500 passengers during peak travel periods.
She explained that the terminal will provide full passenger processing services, including check-in, security screening, and boarding, to ensure minimal disruption to flight operations during the rehabilitation phase.
Kuku noted that the phased rehabilitation and expansion of Terminal One are part of FAAN’s broader strategy to enhance safety standards, operational efficiency, and passenger comfort at Nigeria’s busiest international airport.
She added that the project would not only improve the overall travel experience for passengers but also strengthen Nigeria’s aviation profile and align airport infrastructure with international best practices.
The FAAN boss reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to ensuring that airport users experience smooth and efficient services throughout the duration of the rehabilitation works.
