Ethiopian Airlines Unveils Revolutionary A350-1000 Fleet in Lagos, Marking a Milestone for African Aviation

Ethiopian Airlines becomes the first African carrier to launch the Airbus A350-1000, enhancing passenger comfort and connectivity while boosting trade and economic ties.

In a landmark achievement for African aviation, Ethiopian Airlines today celebrated the arrival of its first Airbus A350-1000 aircraft in Lagos, Nigeria.

This makes Ethiopian Airlines the first carrier on the continent to introduce the state-of-the-art aircraft, underscoring its commitment to providing world-class services to the Nigerian market.

The A350-1000, known for its revolutionary design and cutting-edge technology, boasts advanced aerodynamics, a carbon-fiber fuselage, and fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.

This aircraft promises a smoother, quieter flight experience, making it an ideal choice for long-haul travel.

Passenger experience has been significantly enhanced on the A350-1000, with features such as Thales’s AVANT Up inflight entertainment system, high-speed internet connectivity, large screens, and direct aisle access for all Business Class seats.

In his speech the Airline General Manager Nigeria, Mr. Wondwossen Beyene explained that the aircraft also increases cargo capacity, helping to facilitate seamless trade and economic exchanges between Nigeria, Africa, and the rest of the world.

“Today is a momentous occasion, not only for Ethiopian Airlines but for the entire African aviation sector,” said an Ethiopian Airlines spokesperson during the ceremony.

“The introduction of the A350-1000 to Lagos is a testament to our ongoing investment in Nigeria and our commitment to offering passengers unparalleled comfort, convenience, and connectivity.”

In addition to the first A350-1000, Ethiopian Airlines plans to receive three more of these aircraft in the coming months. The airline’s focus on modernizing its fleet aligns with its broader vision of expanding connectivity across the African continent and beyond.

The event was attended by government officials, members of the aviation industry, and other distinguished guests, all of whom celebrated the historic occasion.

Ethiopian Airlines also thanked the Nigerian government, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, and the Lagos State Government for their continued support in making this moment possible.
