Ethiopian Airlines Adds Extra Abuja Flights to Boost MICE Tourism

Supporting this trend, Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s biggest carrier, has announced the addition of three new weekly flights to its Abuja schedule starting October 28, 2025.

The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events/Exhibitions (MICE) industry is one of the largest drivers of global tourism, and Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, is fast emerging as a key destination for international gatherings. With the recent reopening of the Abuja International Conference Centre, the city has positioned itself to attract more conferences, meetings, and exhibitions.

Supporting this trend, Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s biggest carrier, has announced the addition of three new weekly flights to its Abuja schedule starting October 28, 2025.

Currently operating daily midday flights, the airline will now include evening departures at 10 PM (ET 957), arriving in Addis Ababa at 5 AM to connect seamlessly with major African, Middle Eastern, and Asian destinations, including Dubai (DXB), Tel Aviv (TLV), São Paulo (GRU), and more.

Mrs. Firiehiwot Mekonnen, Ethiopian Airlines’ Area Manager in Nigeria, said the new service was designed to improve convenience for Nigerian travellers.

“We are offering these extra benefits to reward our loyal passengers as we offer more flights and options out of Abuja. These extra flights help us improve service delivery and reduce costs for travellers. Most of our passengers will now arrive at their destinations faster,” she explained.

The additional services come with extra benefits, including more baggage allowance for passengers traveling to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Madras, and Dubai, as well as double miles for frequent flyers.

Ethiopian Airlines has been serving Nigeria since 1960 and currently connects Abuja, Lagos, Enugu, and Kano to its extensive network of over 150 global destinations. The airline also operates some of the world’s newest aircraft, including the Airbus A350-1000 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, offering Nigerian travellers world-class service and comfort.

With this expansion, Ethiopian Airlines is not just enhancing travel options but also reinforcing Abuja’s role as a growing hub for MICE tourism in Africa.
