The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has approved the commencement of domestic flight operations by Enugu Air, which officially launched on Monday, July 7, 2025, under an operational partnership with XEJet.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection.
The airline was inaugurated by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, at a ceremony in Enugu attended by the state governor, Peter Mbah. Enugu Air begins service with three Embraer 170 aircraft, each capable of carrying approximately 76 passengers.
While the airline is still completing its Air Operator Certificate (AOC), the NCAA has granted interim approval for it to operate flights using XEJet’s operational framework and aircraft, following a full variation process that officially integrates the EMB 170s into XEJet’s Operations Specifications.
According to the NCAA, ticket bookings are currently being processed through the XEJet platform, accessible via a redirect on Enugu Air’s official website.
This arrangement, the Authority stated, aligns with the Minister’s 5-Point Agenda, which focuses on expanding indigenous airline operations, enhancing ease of doing business, and pushing forward regulatory reforms in the aviation sector.
It also restated its commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, security, and consumer protection in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
