The Directorate of Part-Time Programmes (DPTP), Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, is set to celebrate its 30th Matriculation Ceremony on Friday, January 30, 2026.

The milestone event marks three decades of sustained commitment to providing flexible, inclusive, and high-quality university education for diverse categories of learners across Nigeria.

The Directorate commenced operations during the 1996/1997 academic session as the External Degree Programme (EDP). Its pioneer study centres were located in Ado-Ekiti, Akure, Ibadan, Lagos, and Ilorin. Since then, the programme has experienced remarkable growth in academic scope, enrolment, and societal impact.

Over the years, the Directorate has produced graduates who have continued to excel in both the public and private sectors, contributing meaningfully to national development.

The success of the Part-Time Programmes has been driven by strong academic leadership, beginning with the late Professor I. O. A. Adelola, the pioneer Director. The Directorate is currently led by Professor Kayode Arogundade, under whose leadership academic quality, institutional relevance, and student success have continued to improve.

EKSU’s Part-Time Programmes are tailored to meet the needs of working professionals, entrepreneurs, civil servants, artisans, and ambitious young adults seeking a university degree without disrupting their careers or personal responsibilities.

Students benefit from Weekend and Weekday lecture options, while enjoying the same curriculum, lecturers, and academic standards obtainable in the full-time university system—delivered with added flexibility.

The Directorate offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that blend strong theoretical foundations with practical, real-world applications. The diverse professional backgrounds of participants enrich classroom engagement, promote leadership development, and encourage the exchange of ideas.

Located at the Ifaki Campus, the Directorate runs all accredited undergraduate programmes in the University except those in the College of Medicine and the Faculties of Pharmacy and Law. It also offers professional postgraduate programmes such as MBA, MPA, Master of Project Management, Master of Information Science, and Master of Petroleum Economics, among others.

As the Directorate celebrates 30 years of empowering dreams and transforming lives, the University has announced that admission into the Part-Time Programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session is now open.

Prospective candidates from diverse academic and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply and take advantage of this flexible, reputable pathway to a university degree.
