Egypt and Nigeria have booked their spots in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following contrasting victories on Tuesday.
Mohamed Salah produced late drama as Egypt defeated Benin 3–1 after extra time. Marwan Attia had opened the scoring, but Jodel Dossou’s late equalizer forced the match beyond 90 minutes. In extra time, Yasser Ibrahim restored Egypt’s lead before Salah sealed the victory with a brilliant counterattack, marking his third goal of the tournament.
Earlier, Nigeria showcased a dominant performance, cruising past Mozambique 4–0 in Fez. Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman led the charge as the Super Eagles delivered a clinical display, securing a tantalizing quarterfinal clash against Algeria.
Both teams now advance with momentum on their side, setting up exciting contests in the last eight of Africa’s premier football tournament.
