The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, a popular social media content creator, for allegedly abusing the Nigerian currency in a video posted on his TikTok and Instagram accounts.
According to a statement released by the EFCC on Monday via X (formerly Twitter), Sa’ad—known online as @youngcee0066—was apprehended by operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate after he posted a video where he threw naira notes on the floor, stepped on them, and challenged EFCC officers to arrest him.
“He was seen daring EFCC officers in the Hausa language to arrest him if they could,” the Commission noted. The video quickly drew public criticism and triggered an immediate investigation.
Following digital surveillance, Sa’ad was located and arrested in the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna State. He was then taken to the EFCC’s Kaduna Zonal office for questioning.
The EFCC emphasized that abuse of the national currency is a criminal offense, and the suspect will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
This incident adds to a growing number of public figures and influencers facing scrutiny for content that violates laws governing the handling of the Nigerian naira.
