DStv has introduced a split payment feature in its MyDStv App, allowing customers to share the cost of a subscription with friends or family.
With the new feature, the primary account holder can generate a payment link and send it to someone else to contribute to the monthly subscription. The bill can now be split between two people, making it easier for households, shared apartments, or families to manage costs without awkward reminders or transfers.
The feature comes as DStv shifts focus from short-term promotions to everyday affordability. Alongside split payments, the entry-level Access package has been refreshed to include three additional channels Trace Ngoma, Trace Gospel, and WWE at no extra cost.
Hardware pricing has also been adjusted to lower barriers for new customers. Entry-level HD decoders now start at R499, while Explora decoders receive discounts of up to 57%.
According to MultiChoice CEO Willington Ngwepe, the goal is simple:
“Give customers more flexibility to stay connected, even when money is tight.”
The update reflects a push to make DStv subscriptions more practical and accessible, while ensuring value for households on a budget.
