Cristiano Ronaldo will not feature in Portugal national football team’s upcoming international friendlies due to injury concerns, in a decision aimed at ensuring his full recovery.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the decision followed discussions between Al Nassr FC and Portugal’s backroom staff, with both parties agreeing not to risk the veteran forward.
“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Portugal squad for the friendly games next week as he’s still injured. Priority to full recovery after discussions between Al Nassr and Portugal backroom staff,” Romano reported.
Ronaldo is currently undergoing rehabilitation, with medical teams opting for caution to avoid aggravating the injury ahead of more competitive fixtures.
The 39-year-old forward has been in strong form, scoring 22 goals across competitions for Al Nassr this season, underlining his continued importance to both club and country.
Portugal are scheduled to face Mexico national football team on March 28 and United States men’s national soccer team on March 31 as part of their preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
Ronaldo’s absence is seen as a precautionary move, allowing him adequate time to regain full fitness before returning to action in crucial matches ahead.
