Popular comedian Sanku tragically died in a car accident on September 2, 2025, while driving a loaned 2012 Lexus RX 350 SUV, according to his guarantor, content creator Folorunsho Olayinka, popularly known as Finest.
The revelation has ignited debate over an outstanding balance linked to the vehicle.
Guarantor Speaks Out
Finest, who stood as guarantor for the purchase, explained his involvement. He revealed that Sanku paid ₦7,000,000 upfront, followed by installments totaling ₦12,280,000, with an estimated ₦13 million still owed.
He dismissed allegations of foul play, stressing:
“So what will be my gain in ordering that the person who owed about ₦13 million, for whom I stood as guarantor, be killed? What will be my gain? I don’t even know the driver.”
Finest added that he provided financial support for medical bills after the crash and insisted he only acted as guarantor.
Dispute Over Car Payment
Contradicting Finest’s account, a close friend of Sanku alleged that the comedian was under pressure to return the Lexus and exchange it for a more affordable Nigerian-used Toyota Venza due to an unpaid ₦2.3 million balance.
In a WhatsApp recording, Sanku was reportedly heard complaining about repeated calls to return the car, though his uncle, a police officer in Osogbo, advised against it.
The Accident
Sanku died along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State, with actor Yemi Elesho confirming the tragedy on social media.
Before his passing, the comedian shared photos of the Lexus on TikTok, captioned:
“Alhamdulillah for life, congratulations Adetola,” tagging Finest as the dealer.
