Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has dismissed speculation linking him to a potential role as Pep Guardiola’s successor at Manchester City, describing the reports as “100%” unfounded.
The 45-year-old, who previously worked as an assistant to Guardiola at City, has been named in multiple reports as a possible candidate should Guardiola step down at the end of the season.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Maresca said, “It doesn’t affect me because I know it is 100% speculation and I don’t have time for these things. I have a contract here until 2029. My focus is just on this club, and I am proud to be here.”
He added, “One week ago in Italy, it was the same with Juventus. I don’t pay attention to it. It’s important to understand why this news was there, but it is just speculation. The Newcastle game is important and very difficult.”
Chelsea currently sit fourth in the Premier League and are preparing to face Newcastle United at St James’s Park on Saturday at 12:30 GMT.
Maresca’s statements reaffirm his commitment to Chelsea, underlining that his priority remains guiding the club’s campaign this season rather than entertaining external speculation.
