Chelsea defender, Tosin Adarabioyo, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, ahead of a youth football tournament being held in his honour.
The Nigeria-born footballer, who is currently in the country as part of his homecoming tour, met with the governor at Lagos House and received a warm welcome.
Following the meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu took to Instagram to share the encounter and commend the football star for his humility and patriotism.
“Tosin Adarabioyo, who plays for Chelsea, stopped by to visit while he’s in Nigeria,” the governor wrote.
“It’s always inspiring to meet young Nigerians making their mark internationally, who remain grounded and stay connected to home.”
The visit comes a day before a youth football tournament set to take place on Wednesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, organised in honour of Adarabioyo to inspire young talents in the state.
The 26-year-old defender was part of the Chelsea squad that recently won the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, with a convincing 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
Adarabioyo’s visit and involvement in grassroots football activities underscore his commitment to youth development and staying close to his Nigerian heritage.
