Former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 10 housemate, Kayode Oladele, popularly known as Kaybobo, has pledged to support young athletes in Ekiti State through his Kaybobo Youth Foundation. The initiative aims to nurture and develop talent in sports, entertainment, fashion, tourism, and arts.
Speaking to members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti State chapter, in Ado-Ekiti, Kaybobo recounted his own journey in basketball, highlighting how his coach, Tayo Awojurin, convinced his mother to let him pursue the sport during his secondary school years.
“My mother did not want me to play basketball then; it was through Coach Awojurin’s intervention that she gave me full support. If not, I would not have reached the level I am today,” he said.
Kaybobo, who gained recognition playing for Christ School and All Souls Secondary School, Ado-Ekiti, described how basketball opened opportunities locally and overseas, enabling him to obtain university degrees and international exposure.
He assured youths in Ekiti that his foundation will help them become professional athletes and sports personalities, emphasizing the importance of parental support in nurturing young talent.
In addition to sports, Kaybobo expressed plans to promote other sectors including fashion, entertainment, tourism, and arts, as part of his mission to give back to his community.
The former BBNaija star also presented 20 customised caps to SWAN members and pledged ongoing collaboration to promote sports in the state. SWAN Chairman, Qozeem Oladapo, thanked him for his gesture and assured support for the foundation.
