Barcelona stormed into the Champions League quarter-finals with a stunning 7-2 victory over Newcastle United on Wednesday, securing an 8-3 aggregate win.
Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha each scored twice, while Lamine Yamal, Marc Bernal, and Fermin Lopez also found the net as Hansi Flick’s side ran riot at Camp Nou.
The five-time European champions, aiming to lift the trophy for the first time in 11 years, showcased a scintillating attacking display that left Newcastle bruised and battered. The Premier League side, hoping for a maiden quarter-final appearance, could not withstand the Catalan firepower.
Barca led 3-2 at half-time after a thrilling opening 45 minutes. An early second-half goal from Lopez put the hosts firmly in control, with Lewandowski and Raphinha adding further strikes to seal a commanding win.
“With the fans supporting us like that for 90 minutes, it’s hard to beat us at home,” Raphinha told Movistar following the match.
Barcelona now await their quarter-final opponents, carrying momentum and confidence after a dominant performance at home.
