Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has strongly denied allegations of negligence or complicity in the case of Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student recently declared missing by his mother, Fijabi Oyindamola Omotayo.
In a statement issued by the institution’s Director of Communication and Public Relations, Joshua Suleiman, the university clarified that Siwajuola left the campus without following due protocols or obtaining proper clearance from school authorities.
Suleiman expressed disappointment over what he described as the mother’s decision to “sensationalise the matter on social media,” accusing the institution and its student body of negligence. He stressed that the university had been actively collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), security agencies, and student associations to ensure Siwajuola’s safe return.
According to the statement, the student was reportedly found in Akute, Ifo Local Council, Ogun State, where he had been hiding. However, Suleiman noted that the university had not yet received official confirmation from the police regarding this development.
“Let it be clearly stated that Babcock University is a responsible, faith-based academic institution that takes the safety, security, and well-being of its students with the utmost seriousness,” Suleiman said.
He added that the university maintains strict protocols for hall monitoring and student welfare, which are regularly reviewed and upgraded to meet evolving challenges.
