The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) has refuted recent claims of a leadership change within the association, describing them as misleading, unconstitutional, and without legal backing.
In a statement released to the press, the council emphasized that Prince Adetunji Femi Fadina remains the duly elected President of ATPN saying the circulating notice of a supposed “Leadership Transition” is false, unfounded and represents a direct assault on the association’s constitution and democratic values.
“The so-called ‘suspension’ and ‘succession protocol’ being promoted by some individuals is a complete fabrication with no constitutional authority,” the NEC stated.
The NEC further clarified that while the **Board of Trustees (BOT)** serves an advisory and heritage role, it **does not have the power to suspend or appoint the President**. That authority, according to the association’s constitution, **lies solely with the National Executive Council and the General Assembly**.
The council dismissed any claims of an “Acting President” as **null, void, and of no effect**, warning members and stakeholders to ignore what it called a “desperate attempt to impose a parallel leadership structure.”
> “Let it be clear — the courts, not propaganda, will interpret the constitution. Until then, Prince Fadina remains President in law and in mandate,” the statement added.
The Council also called on all tourism practitioners, partners, and stakeholders in the country to support the current leadership and focus on unity and development in the sector.
- > “Tourism in Nigeria deserves clarity, not confusion. It deserves service, not selfishness. And it deserves leaders chosen by practitioners, not imposed by intrigue,”
