APC: Tinubu’s Fiscal Revolution Rebuilding Nigeria Brick by Brick

The ruling party hails reforms at the Federal Inland Revenue Service as a model for sustainable growth under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s fiscal revolution, describing it as a bold transformation that is “rebuilding Nigeria brick by brick.”

In a statement issued on Monday, the APC Spokesman, Mr Seye Oladejo, commended the visionary leadership and reform-driven approach of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Oladejo said Nigeria’s resilience amid global economic disruptions was the result of “deliberate financial engineering driven by sound policy, strategic management, and disciplined revenue administration.”

“The ongoing transformation of the FIRS is a textbook example of how institutional reforms, when anchored on competence and integrity, can become the engine room of nation building,” he said.

According to Oladejo, the FIRS under its Executive Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has evolved beyond traditional tax collection to become a strategic fiscal institution balancing revenue generation with economic stimulation.

He highlighted several innovations introduced by the FIRS that are reshaping Nigeria’s fiscal landscape, including:

  • TaxPro Max System — revolutionising tax filing, remittance, and reconciliation by eliminating leakages and human interference.
  • Automated VAT collection mechanisms across sectors like telecoms, banking, and e-commerce for real-time tracking.
  • Unified Tax Identification Number (TIN) expansion to promote a single national taxpayer database.
  • Inter-agency collaborations with Customs, CAC, and NIMC to improve data accuracy and eliminate duplication.

Oladejo noted that these reforms have led to record-breaking revenue collections, strengthening the government’s ability to finance infrastructure, social welfare, and debt sustainability.

“President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda recognises revenue stability as the foundation for national sovereignty. By reforming the FIRS and enforcing fiscal discipline across all tiers of government, the administration is freeing Nigeria from the perpetual cycle of borrowing and dependency,” he added.

The APC spokesman recalled that Tinubu first demonstrated the power of efficient tax administration during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, transforming the state from near insolvency to an economic powerhouse.

Oladejo urged Nigerians to view tax compliance as a patriotic duty and a partnership for nation-building, rather than a burden.

“A modern economy cannot thrive on oil alone. Paying tax is not punishment – it is partnership. With renewed faith, reformed systems, and responsible citizenship, the Tinubu administration is building a Nigeria that works, that pays its way, and that sustains its own development,” he said.
