Air Peace has announced it will resume flight operations on Friday, following the suspension of the industrial strike by workers of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET).
In a statement released Thursday night in Lagos, Dr Ejike Ndiulo, the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, expressed appreciation to customers and the general public for their patience and understanding during the disruption.
“Your resilience and trust in our brand mean the world to us,” Ndiulo stated.
The airline also commended Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo (SAN), for his effective leadership in resolving the strike.
“We commend the active and decisive intervention of the Minister… His leadership and commitment were pivotal in restoring normalcy within the aviation industry,” Ndiulo added.
He noted the minister’s proactive engagement with stakeholders, which helped bring the strike to a quick end. The intervention is seen as a reflection of Keyamo’s broader vision for a stable and investor-friendly aviation sector in Nigeria.
Ndiulo reiterated Air Peace’s dedication to delivering safe, reliable, and world-class air travel to its customers.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), NiMET workers had downed tools on April 22 to protest poor working conditions, including lack of implementation of the 2019 Consequential Adjustment to the National Minimum Wage. Their demands also include salary increases, hardship allowances, and annual staff training.
Minister Keyamo assured the workers that their concerns will be addressed promptly, leading to the suspension of the strike.
