Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his commitment to restoring and sustaining the operations of local governments in the state.
Speaking at a reception organized by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osogbo on Thursday, Adeleke declared that his administration would not allow forces opposed to progress to hinder Osun’s development.
“I am back to continue the good work after a short vacation.
We must sustain good governance. We must sustain the tempo. The good work must continue. Osun people are with us. God is with us. We shall overcome the Pharaohs facing us. We will get our local government back and running,” he said.
The governor accused political opponents of attempting to hold the state back, adding that his administration remains focused on delivering transformation across sectors. He urged PDP members to mobilize for the ongoing voter registration exercise, encouraging citizens to update their voter cards and showcase the government’s achievements.
PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi expressed confidence that the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) would not win any local government in the 2026 governorship elections, while Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Wale Egbedun, assured the governor of PDP’s dominance in Osun Central.
Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Lasun Yusuf, condemned the seizure of local government allocations, describing it as unconstitutional.
