Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has restated that his administration does not operate the traditional “security vote” system, but instead provides targeted support to security agencies within the limits of public finance laws.
In a statement on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke explained that the State has no slush fund and that all security-related expenses are processed through statutory approval procedures, including memos and compliance with official payment protocols.
The governor said the expenditures cover operational support for security agencies, crisis response operations, community peace initiatives, and funding for the Amotekun corps.
“I am proud to declare that the Osun State Government under my watch does not operate a slush fund that our media friends call security votes. Our security needs are met through the approval process. I face resistance over the policy but I stick to it even at great cost,” Adeleke stated.
He added that upon assuming office in November 2022, he resolved to channel every kobo of state resources towards development, prioritising infrastructure, agriculture, health, workers’ salaries, pensions, and outstanding salary debts.
Adeleke also highlighted that the creation of a special projects account has enabled the smooth funding of ongoing human and capital projects, while expressing optimism that the ongoing seizure of local government council funds will soon be resolved.
