Passengers aboard selected United Nigeria Airlines flights were treated to an unexpected reward on Monday, June 1, as the airline partnered with Samsung to distribute newly launched Galaxy smartphones through an onboard promotional campaign.
The initiative, branded “Awesome Row,” featured a live in-flight lucky dip that produced three winners on the Lagos–Abuja and Abuja–Lagos routes.

The beneficiaries — Hamid Ibrahim, Chidi Chinedu and Gbenga Bello — each received one of Samsung’s latest Galaxy smartphones after being selected during the flight experience.
In addition to the prizes, passengers on the designated flights were given exclusive access to preview Samsung’s newly released Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 devices while onboard.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chief Commercial Officer of United Nigeria Airlines, Dayo Olawuyi, described the campaign as part of the airline’s commitment to creating memorable travel experiences for passengers.
He said the airline’s operations are focused on connecting Nigerians and strengthening relationships across the country through improved service delivery.
“At United Nigeria Airlines, we fly to unite. Every route we operate, every flight we run, is about bringing Nigerians together, whether for business, work or family functions,” Olawuyi said.
He added that the collaboration with Samsung reflects a shared commitment to quality service and customer satisfaction.
“This partnership with Samsung is an extension of that mission because they share our belief in delivering the very best to Nigerians, and together, we wanted to create a moment that passengers would never forget,” he said.
Olawuyi congratulated the winners, noting that the airline was excited to reward passengers for their loyalty and participation in the promotional experience.
He further emphasised that customer satisfaction remains central to the airline’s operations and long-term strategy.
According to him, initiatives like the Samsung partnership are designed to enhance the overall passenger experience and strengthen brand loyalty among travellers.
Industry observers note that collaborations between airlines and consumer technology brands are becoming increasingly common as companies seek innovative ways to engage customers and differentiate their services.
United Nigeria Airlines has continued to introduce customer-focused initiatives as part of efforts to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s domestic aviation market and improve passenger satisfaction.
