Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, peaceful coexistence, and collective sacrifice as the country continues its journey toward renewal and sustainable development under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In his Eid-el-Kabir 2026 message, the Vice President said the religious festival offers a timely reminder of the values of faith, obedience, compassion, and sacrifice as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.

According to a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima described the season as one for reflection and renewed commitment to national cohesion.

“This is a period of sober reflection, a season of reaching out to the indigent among us, of building bridges of brotherhood and sisterhood,” he said. “What binds us together supersedes whatever divides us.”

The Vice President stressed that Nigeria’s development cannot be achieved in an atmosphere of division, urging citizens to rise above ethnic, religious, and political differences in the interest of national progress.

He reaffirmed that the Tinubu administration remains committed to addressing insecurity, stabilising the economy, creating jobs, and expanding opportunities for citizens across the country.

“Our nation is undergoing a process of renewal and transformation aimed at securing a more stable and prosperous future for generations to come,” Shettima stated, adding that ongoing reforms may require patience and sacrifice but are necessary for long-term stability.

He appealed to Nigerians to support the government’s reform agenda, emphasizing that unity of purpose is essential in overcoming insecurity, poverty, and social challenges.

Shettima also commended the sacrifices of the country’s armed forces and security personnel in ongoing efforts to restore peace and security nationwide.

“No matter how long the night may seem, dawn will surely come,” he said. “Nigeria is steadily advancing on the path of peace, recovery, and sustainable development.”
