Guinea Ministry of National Education announced on Wednesday, February 25, the launch of a digital registration program for primary school students.
The initiative seeks to create a comprehensive, secure, and reliable digital registry of pupils, with each student eventually receiving a unique school identification number to track academic progress across the national education system.
As part of the rollout, examination officers and data managers from regional education inspectorates (IRE), prefectural education directorates (DPE), and communal education directorates (DCE) have begun intensive training sessions. These are coordinated by the Directorate-General for Examinations and Academic Oversight to ensure staff are fully proficient in using the platform.
The digital registration program is part of a broader strategy to modernize education governance. By maintaining centralized and up-to-date school data, authorities aim to improve infrastructure planning, anticipate teacher staffing needs, and strengthen equity in resource allocation.
If successfully implemented, the platform could drive digital transformation in Guinea’s education sector by making accurate student data central to public decision-making. Its effectiveness will rely on proper field deployment and sustained commitment from local education authorities overseeing daily operations.
