Kenyan startup Balozy is building an AI-powered service marketplace that connects local service providers — from plumbers and electricians to tutors and cleaners — with verified customers in their communities.
The platform uses machine learning and smart matching to help users find reliable professionals based on location, skills, and ratings. Additional AI-enhanced features provide booking tips, engagement prompts, and tools to encourage repeat usage, making the platform a more seamless experience for both customers and providers.
Balozy’s model incorporates escrow payments, compliance frameworks, and audit trails, creating a secure and transparent transaction environment. Thousands of service providers have already signed up through the mobile app, available on Google Play and the Apple Store, with adoption growing across Nairobi, Nakuru, Machakos, Rift Valley, and coastal regions.
Looking ahead, Balozy plans to raise institutional capital in 2026 to scale operations across East and West Africa. The company also aims to forge partnerships with NGOs, financial institutions, and colleges to expand access to its AI-enabled services and grow its user base.
Industry observers say the startup’s combination of AI, trust mechanisms, and local reach could transform how everyday services are sourced, making it easier for residents to find skilled professionals while creating income opportunities for service providers.
