The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has achieved a major milestone in aviation management by securing dual International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certifications, placing Nigeria’s airports among globally recognised, world-class facilities.
FAAN was awarded ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems by MSECB, Canada, following an independent and comprehensive audit of its operations and institutional processes.
The certifications confirm that FAAN’s systems meet internationally accepted standards for quality assurance, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement. They also underscore the Authority’s commitment to delivering efficient, safe, and customer-focused airport services, while embedding sustainable environmental practices across all airports under its management.
Aviation experts say the achievement significantly enhances the global competitiveness and credibility of Nigeria’s airports, positioning them more favourably within the international aviation industry.
Reacting to the development, FAAN acknowledged the support of its stakeholders and commended the dedication and professionalism of its workforce, describing the achievement as a collective success.
The Authority reaffirmed its determination to uphold global best practices and sustain continuous improvement in service delivery across the Nigerian aviation sector.
“We remain committed to delivering quality and environmentally responsible services while continually improving our operations,” FAAN stated.
The dual ISO certification is widely seen as a strategic step toward strengthening passenger confidence, attracting international partnerships, and positioning Nigeria’s airports among the best-managed aviation hubs worldwide.
