1M Naira Lekki Scrabble Classics’ Top Prize-money Tickles Players, Sparks Excitement

Press Release
Buzzing and bantering have been the dotting features among players as organisers of the Lekki Scrabble Classics crossed a threshold with the announcement of one million naira as the top prize-money for the winner of the foremost championship this year.
The Lekki Scrabble Club; the bearer of the tournament, has been in the forefront of pushing the spikes high and spreading quality in its strategic contribution to scrabble development globally.
The Lekki Scrabble Classics has attained a national status with top players across the country as well as newbies expected to converge at the Peninsula Hotel from September 28 to 29.
Players are expected to compete over 18 rounds of games in two main categories of A and B at the two-day jamming fiesta.
Spot prizes, gifts and other consolation rewards will be received by deserving participants at the end.
Category A will accommodate players  with ratings of 1300 and above while those who fall into ratings from 0-1299 will jostle for winnings in Category B.
This edition has been certified by the Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) and the continent’s governing body the Pan African Scrabble Association (PANASA).
Since the announcement, many players have gone into different levels of preparation for the LSC as they seize every available opportunity to boost their word-power and board strategies.
“The Lekki Scrabble classics is the flagship tournament of the Lekki Scrabble Club, arguably the most prestigious scrabble club in Nigeria, if not the world,” enthused the excited President of the Club Samuel Anikoh while speaking to the media on plans to make 3rd LSC a standout championship.
“As such” he continued, “you’ll be hard pressed to find a more impressive tournament organised by a scrabble club. The event has evolved over the last few years, and this year boasts a One million Naira star prize in the Division A category” he declared.
“Of course the classy, comfortable and serene environment for the event will make playing scrabble a delight for all the participants, with breakfast and lunch provided. I can assure you that’s not something you can get anywhere else!” He said.
It would be recalled that James Eruje won the 2022 edition waving off a final challenge from Olufemi Gbadebo in the last round of games on Table 1 while current African Champion Enoch Nwali stamped his authority on the last edition in 2023 to claim the top title.
