16 AFUED Prospective Corps Members Die in Road Crash on Way to Gombe NYSC Camp

Two others critically injured as investigation begins into tragic bus accident

Sixteen prospective corps members from Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, have lost their lives in a devastating road accident while traveling to the Gombe State NYSC orientation camp.

The victims were among 18 AFUED graduates on board a bus headed to the camp when tragedy struck along their route. Reports indicate that two survivors are in critical condition and receiving urgent medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene to recover the bodies and provide medical attention to the injured. Authorities are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash, although investigations are already underway.

The unfortunate incident has plunged the AFUED community into deep mourning. Staff, colleagues, and families have expressed shock over the sudden loss of promising young graduates who were preparing to begin their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) year.

Many described the deaths as a heartbreaking tragedy and a major loss not only to the institution but to the nation, which continues to depend on its young generation for service and development.
